Not hung over — just busy this morning, but I don’t feel terribly analytical either. Other than to remind you that the douche bag headline writers at the Strib stole this election for Norman “Iranians buy my clothes and give money to my wife” Coleman, and to offer a gratuitous FUCK YOU to Mn’s Independence (from accountability for Republicans) party, I think I’ll just post links today. Btw, Coleman lost Ramsey County (which is mostly St. Paul, the city he used to be mayor of) 52-34-13.

How did Eric Paulsen win the ‘Ramstad seat?’ I’d say by appealing to the racist suburbanites, by which I do not mean all suburbanites are racist, just enough to swing a close election:
The Strib’ Pat Lopez says suburban ticket-splitters sunk Franken. Idle thought: What if Barack Obama had put some of his prestige on the line (he won Minnesota by 10 points) and cut an ad for Franken? Exit poll numbers showed Barkley peeled more votes away from Al, contrary to pre-election surveys. The Independence Party: helping elect Republicans for over a tenth of a century! [Brauer]
Doug Grow on Franken’s loss (seriously, it’s all over except the recount which will not change the tally in any significant way)
How sad is it when Fox News stands up for Obama even as the other networks spin their “move to the center-right” nonsense? And, incredibly, Fox is openly calling the USA center-left! (Murdoch really, really hates losers.)
This morning, btw, MPR host Keri Miller threw out Gary Eichten’s favorite attack question and asked her guests where the Democrats would start cutting their agenda. I think a more appropriate question would have been why aren’t Republican losers exercising their 2nd Amendment right to blow their brains out?
FUCK CUTTING OUR AGENDA. If Obama runs deficits, we’ll just raise taxes on the rich. The painfully phony argument that taxing the rich kills economic growth has been proven a lie a thousand times over, and it’s time for the rich to pick which of their homes they’ll sacrifice up for the sake of national solvency. When markets crash, maybe owning eight homes isn’t exactly the best way to express your love for this country.

Norman Coleman didn’t win this election, the Star Tribune won it for him. I will never link to them again, and if I see any content over there worth commenting on, I’ll just copy it. Because you can’t steal from thieves, anymore than you can cheat on an adulterer.
I have zero respect for any Minnesota media who report on Norman Coleman but fail to mention his wife, her job and what she does to earn that money. If Norm doesn’t like his wife being mentioned in the news, maybe he shouldn’t use her to funnel illegal transfers of corporate money into his back pocket.

I had to hold my nose voting for Al. I supported Jack N-P for endorsement (Cerisi second) What the celebrity obsessed DFL delegates in Rochester did was to lose this election for the Wellstone seat (unless there’s a miracle in the recount.) Jack may/may not deserve the rep for being dull on the stump, but he sure had Al nailed on progressive issues. He could have won against Coleman. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Your point about the DFL endorsement process it absolutely on target — it favors the candidate that fits in rather than stands out.
Well I am willing to bet Coleman gets convicted of taking the $75,000. It is such a paltry amount – you know he did it. He didn’t think anyone would notice.
Shame on us for not writing in Jack’s name. I did not think of it – we do need to do something about that endorsement process.
