Scores dead in Islamabad car bombing

A “massive bomb blast” at the Islamabad Marriott Hotel has killed at least 52 people.

GEO TV’s Hamid Mir, who was at the explosion site, said he saw at least 52 bodies. Most of the fatalities appeared to be drivers who were waiting with their cars outside the hotel, and hotel staff — most of them security guards.

Mir said a witness saw the gates of the hotel rammed open by a small car, followed by an explosive-laden truck that detonated.

The blast caused a natural gas leak that set the top floor of the five-story, 258-room Marriott Hotel on fire. The blaze quickly engulfed the entire structure. More than a dozen cars were reduced to twisted steel.

Just a hunch, but I suspect Osama bin Laden wasn’t one of them.

Five debates between Al and Norman and Dean

So much for Al putting the grown ups in charge of his campaign. Dean Barkley benefits more from so many debates than anyone else. Anyone, that is, except Norman, whose base is rock solid, meaning he has less to lose by sharing a stage with third party Dean.

Barkley will eat away at Al’s soft support without saying anything to deter the moose hunters from holding their noses and voting for the basement apartment philanderer with the weasely voting record.

The Almanac debate, btw, doesn’t really count. The Almanac crew wouldn’t know a hard question if it snuck behind them and beat them senseless with a tire iron. No, asking hard questions isn’t Minnesota Nice, a bit of cultural bullshit more observed in the mythology (a public radio/tv specialty) than in reality. Follow up questions? Why, that’s tantamount to suggesting that someone didn’t try his hardest to answer the question!

Look for Norman to lie, Al to get indignant, and Dean to be a nice guy with some serious concerns.

Whew. Just got back online. Odd service interruption. According to the ISP all their customers using Cisco 678 routers experience bandwidth outages at the same time this afternoon.

Qwest, as usual, claimed to know nothing about it.

  1. Your Demko more pictures from Blaine and the 17% link are the same (17%).

I posted a nyah nyah comment on:

    http://terryfrank.net/?p=3591

The main hub of the rapid rumor meltdown on Kernell and the Palin email hacking.
    It was taken down.
I said I knew all of the freepers were angry because I could smell the egg cooking on their red faces.

  2. i got 5 – How is that possible when I don’t read the news?

  3. I got 4 also. Not too bad for a suburban woman who doesn’t listen to MPR despite how feverishly they spew the non-offensive mishmash of news that she wants to hear.

  4. [still chortling] link fixed now (and it’s still slower than dial up).

  5. This guy started the whole David Kernell/David Plouff connection.
    He posted these comments on:
    http://terryfrank.net/?p=3591
I posted a comment earlier today and it is no longer there.
This connection was so weak, but it was the right accelerant for the raging rumor firestorm on Thursday and Friday. Now I have not seen anything new on this vicious attack on this kid and his family, except for this guys comment from today.
I find that amazing. No apologies or real admittance of poor journalism. I thought that they were gonna catch the perp right away. Just trace it back to the source. Now it is though the whole email hack never existed.

There is an apparent connection between David Kernell and David Plouffe. If you do a Technorati search for “david kernell” (http://www.technorati.com/search/%22david+kernell%22?authority=a4&language=en) and then click on Videos about David Kernell, the first video you see if of David Plouffe (Campaign manager for Obaman). He probably did the video for Plouffe.

This is not a casual connection.

About 3 days ago I posted observations about a Technorati search I did for “david kernell”.
The original screen shot I made of the results showed a Video of David Plouffe, and 3 other video’s (without caption names) between Search results. Later when I did the same search there were no images in the search results. The images could only be viewed by clicking on the gray video tab behind the search result screen. (which had caption names)
There were comments posted on this forum that the word “David” was the common element of images that were “about David Kernell”. After looking at the results, this is probably the correct explanation.

Although I still think young David Kernell took seriously the comments of the Ploofe video that they were the “cavalry” of the Obama campaign.

Now the strangest part. For a time yesterday, the image of David Plouffe would not show up at all on the search, but would still show up if you searched for “David Plouffe”. There was a time that there were no results at all from search for “david kernell”. But the strangest part happened last night after a phone conversation with Erick, I e-mailed him my screen shot to help us discuss this. It just dissappeared. Finally I e-mailed him the screenshot via another mail address that I use, it worked fine. Today I received a notification from my local ISP e-mail administrator: “WARNING. Mail Delayed: testing outgoing e-mail” This is a warning message only.
Your message remains in the server queue,
the server will try to send it again.
You should not try to resend your message now.

My e-mail attachment had been filtered. I tested it with other messages from my back-up e-mail account and it worked fine both directions.
