Palin-esque

Some quick reactions to Sarah Palin:

something else entirely

No, Sarah Palin makes no sense at all, not from any perspective or point of view. It’s just that she’s less objectionable than Romney [Mormon], Pawlenty [I-35 bridge], Huckabee [radical populist], Giu9/11ani [corrupt], Lieberman [putz], or Cheney [war criminal].

That and Condi turned him down.

Atrios:

Though it was high in shock value, the Palin pick left bruised feelings among the short-list contenders who were not picked —and infuriated some Republican officials who privately said McCain had gone out on a limb, unnecessarily, without laying the groundwork for such an unknown. Two senior Republican officials close to Mitt Romney and Tim

Pawlenty said they had both been rudely strung along and now “feel manipulated.”

“They now know that they were used as decoys, well after McCain had decided not to pick them,” one Republican involved in the process said.

Even better, Kos says that Palin is a creationist.

The columns at Invesco Field really bothered the Republicans. This might be why:

(another posed photo)

(2004 RNC — same basic configuration as DNC 2008)

(speaking to Congress)

(speaking to the King of TV ratings)

(Daddy Bush’s library)

Pantswetting reactionaries, each and every one of them. No sense of history, not even their own words from just a few years ago. What is presidential to them is scandalous when someone else does it.

UPDATE: Wikipedia says that someone made over 25 changes to Sarah Palin’s Wikipedia entry yesterday, a full 24 hours before McCain’s announcement.

The name of the editor? Someone used the name of Palin’s infant son.

  1. The Palin choice is clearly an act of pure desperation.

  2. That button is fantastic. McCain already had gasoline all over himself. Palin is a lit match.

  3. So this is the type of decision McCain will make at in the morning?

  4. I look for McCain to tell us soon how Palin convinced him that drilling in ANWR is the right thing to do.

  5. Formatting error on that last one…should read “three” in the morning.

Anywho, this is a completely baffling decision. It only makes sense in the context of a campaign dead-set on believing that having a woman on the ticket can win over disgruntled Hillary supporters. The only problem is that in this case, the woman in question is a creationist who has a decidedly right wing view of reproductive rights. I’m guessing that McCain’s folks didn’t even vet her correctly as by most accounts it was Romney or Pawlenty until yesterday. I think this decision was literally made at three in the morning.

  6. Looking back at the Michael Palin post, I realized Michael has better foreign policy experience.

  7. That turd picture really bothers me.
Putting right below the HOT pic of Ms Palin reminds me of the early days of the internet and upon viewing a certain pic, I was ruined for months.
    Say no more.

  8. Uh, yeah, maybe the inflatable turd art from Switzerland was a little too much.

  9. Palin reeks of desperation with me also. I confess, I can only laugh thinking how pissed off Pawlenty must have been.

Legislators, profoundly stupid; state economist, charitably unoptomistic; wife, “if only she would have sex with me.” Shaming people in public – is that working yet?

Perhaps his Golden Boy assumption is not meeting the road as good as it met his mind. He seems to have forgotten the programs that made it possible for a bright kid without money to succeed.

  10. Michael Palin has more foreign policy experience, looks better in a dress and also really knows how to treat a transvestite.

  11. Late comment, but appropriate.
