Viral video (or what you resort to when your candidates suck)

A reader sent me a link to this video, with the following forwarded message:

I’m very careful to not break your trust in me when forwarding emails. But I feel so strong about this video that it’s vital this type of information be sent all over the world if you have family or friends across the waters that you can forward this to. Working for the U.S. Army and having civilian co-workers volunteer to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan to rebuild their countries, I can say the “good” citizens (those who just want to live in peace and have the benefits of being alive) of those two countries are very appreciative of what outsiders are doing to give them clean drinking water, hospitals, schools, electricity. Its what’s going on in the background that is terrifying.

 

Everyone needs to wake up to reality. There HAS to continue to be a global war against terrorism. There HAS to be a homeland security (however futile of an attempt to protect the citizens it might be). This video confirms that what is happening is 100% accurate and true. People all over the world must demand their governments say NO to demands from people moving in from the outside. Individuals must grow a backbone and voice their feelings to outsiders when morals are broken. Say no to tolerance! What happened to American patriotism and what THIS nation believes? Governments CANNOT protect their people. Government legislators simply don’t want to accept what could and probably WILL happen, and it will happen faster then you or I realize. We have to protect ourselves. Government honestly don’t know WHAT to do to change what is happening. They don’t want to OFFEND anyone! Minnesota has a town where the Muslims demanded their right to have bells ring throughout the day for Call to Prayer. Mosques are in cities all over the world, including in Seattle, Washington! The Koran IS being taught in the U.S.A. and our government allows it!!! Last week a Canadian lost his head on a Grayhound bus! Parents must demand the schools stop teaching this “tolerance and acceptance” crap. People are pushing God out of everything. Why SHOULD he help anyone???

 

We have two potential presidents that could, may, probably will, make the U.S.A. a less safe placeto live. One doesn’t use a computer so doesn’t know what’s going on around the world. The other came from a Muslim background and Iraq people want him in power. Terrorists are living in every country. Some of them ARE your neighbors. Seized documents from terrorist groups say for their people to move here, dress and work just like everyone else to mask their appearance. They might be the “nicest neighbors” you get to know. As their following grows, including our own citizens being converted because they want something “different” to believe in, there will be nothing to stop an overthrow of a government. There’s nothing stopping a group coming to a guard station of a federal bu ilding and shooting the guards, entering the building, and taking control of all the workers. Folks, it’s only a matter of time. Be vigilant. Be alert. God may not have mercy on us.

This will be hard to watch. You will feed uneasy after watching it. You should feel fear. It shows before and after an “action” but not the actual action so that shields you a little. It’s 16 minutes long, with sound, but has captions if you don’t want the sound on. I watched in it full screen mode. I’m not sure you can read the captions if you don’t expand the video to full screen. Please sit through the entire video to the very end. Everyone must understand this is here NOW and it’s all over the world. You cannot deny it. It’s in the U.S.A. We ARE a venerable nation and the oceans don’t shield us. This video is being pulled off Internet sites, including You Tube, due to threats by terrorists for posting it. Google will probably b ow to pressure soon to remove it. Watch it while you still can.

If you understand propaganda, you don’t need me to explain this email and the video to you. They are no different than the pamphlets distributed by Nazis in the ’30s, and are part and parcel of how fascists work to undermine democracies. 

The counter-talking points are many and obvious:

1. The Koran does not equal terrorism any more than the Bible does. Read your Old Testament — it’s loaded with the rhetoric of ancient warmongers ascribing religion to war and lying about God smiting enemies
2. The video immediately uses documentary footage of Americans dying to strike fear in the reader
3. They then cut to the worst of the “terrorist” talking heads, men who, truthfully, sound no more radical than our founding fathers did (which is not to say that the Islamists aren’t radicals, I just mean to point out that our founding fathers were far more radical than we like to admit)
4. The video shows bodies lined up on the ground and you are supposed to assume they were killed by terrorists but in reality you cannot tell from the bodies who killed them: suicide bombers or U.S.A.F. bombers

The video goes on and on and on, but in reality it just keeps repeating the same theme: THEY WANT TO KILL US AND OUR FREEDOMS. In fact, it even ends with the tag, Defend Our Freedom before dissolving to a ticking bomb. You should be very afraid because the video is designed to scare you. 

It could as easily be warning you about the danger presented by Jews, liberals, Turks, communists, the Asian horde, Wal-Mart, etc. The video is way more sophisticated than could be produced without financial backing, and who paid should be your first question. 

The credits give us the Wikipedia page for the movie and director. See if this content regarding Geert Wilders sounds at all familiar to you:

Wilders believes that the Netherlands has been held hostage by elitist (mostly social democrat and left-wing liberal) politicians for decades. He claims to want to give it “back to the people”, and in this respect he has been labeled a populist by the establishment.[citation needed]

His political views (and so the ones of the PVV as well) often overlap those of the murdered Rotterdam politician Pim Fortuyn and his List Pim Fortuyn. There are strong resemblances, certainly on socio-economic issues, to libertarianism. Wilders wants to lower taxes, cut most welfare programs, raise highway speed limits and minimize state regulations by making it mandatory to scrap two legal rules for every new one to be instated. He also wants to reintroduce the mandatory army service. On the crime issue, he has supported a U.S.-style three strikes law with mandatory life sentences after three separate acts of violent crime.[3]

In polls released following the assassination of Theo van Gogh, it was estimated that Wilders’ party could win as many as 29 (out of 150) seats in the Dutch parliament. With the uproar over the killing of Van Gogh subsiding, this number declined to a low of one in October 2005. In February 2006, after the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy, it rose again to three seats.

In fact, the more you read, the more the guy sounds like a charismatic version of David Horowitz. His political pugnacity has earned him many enemies and he is legitimately at risk of assassination, just as Michael Savage is because of his inflammatory and eliminationist rhetoric. Like the American rightwing, Wilders is extremely pro-Israel, having visited that nation over 40 times. 

Wilders has, in the eight years he has served in the Dutch Parliament, always supported Israel and attacked countries he perceives as enemies of Israel.[16]

Furthermore, Wilders has made some proposals in the Dutch Parliament inspired by Israel. For example, in 2005 Wilders proposed implementing Israel’s administrative detention in the Netherlands, a practice heavily criticized by human rights group Amnesty International. Also, at the time Wilders was member of the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy, he had an employee who directly came from the Israeli Embassy. [16]

As for Fitna itself, the video is as it is described:

Footage of the September 11 attacks are shown, followed by the Madrid train bombings.[35] An unidentified Imam rises above the smoke and declares “Allah is happy when non-muslims get killed.” Stills taken from the 7 July 2005 London bombings show an exploded bus and the underground train.

The next Sura, An-Nisa verse 56[4:56], is shown as a justification for Islamic antisemitism. Sheikh Bakr Al-Samarai is shown raising a sword while declaring: “If Allah permits us, oh nation of Mohammed, even the stone will say Oh Muslim. A Jew is hiding behind me, come and cut off his head. And we shall cut off his head! By Allah, we shall cut it off! Oh Jews! Allahu Akbar! Jihad for the sake of Allah!”[36] An auditorium of several hundred people respond with approving chants and fist shaking.[37]

Following this, a three year old Muslim girl, says that Jews are “apes and pigs”[38] because “Allah” said so “in the Qur’an”[39] in an interview on Iqraa TV.[40] More antisemitism is shown by an unidentified Imam, who says: “The Jews are Jews. They are the ones who must be butchered and killed.”[41] Child soldiers are shown holding guns in uniform.

Sura 47, verse 4[47:4] is shown in relation to the murder of Dutch film director Theo Van Gogh, committed by Mohammed Bouyeri. Bouyeri is reported as saying: “If I had the opportunity to get out of prison, and I had the opportunity to do it again, what I did on November 2nd, Allah I would have done exactly the same.”[42] Protesters are shown supporting Van Gogh’s murder, warning others to heed the lesson or “pay with your blood”.

Dutch newspaper headlines are reproduced, outlining intimidating threats of murder to prominent critics of Islam,[43] followed by footage of Eugene Armstrong’s beheading. Armstrong’s decapitated head is shown held up by Al-Qaeda terrorists.[44][45][46]

All damning stuff — if you’ve never read a Bible or Torah, and if you’ve never stopped to realize that all religions have their eliminationist texts that are used to justify the wholesale slaughter of “the other.” Yes, when you cherrypick the Koran, it sounds every bit as violent and depraved as the Bible or Torah do when you cherrypick them. Thanks to Mark Twain, I can never hear the prophet Elijah’s name mentioned without thinking about how he had God send a bear to eat children who had mocked him for being bald. Sadly, if you try googling this story now, you just get a vast list of links to creepy Christian sites explaining away this story. Here are the actual Bible verses Twain was so fond of mocking:

All three of the major Middle Eastern originated religions tell this story of how in ancient times God’s prophets used angry bears as weapons of mass destruction, killing and eating 42 children.

What do we call people who kill 42 children today?

Yes, we call them terrorists. Just like we call every angry person we don’t understand a terrorist. 

Are there a lot of Muslims who hate us? Fuck yes, but do they really hate our freedoms, or do they just hate the way the U.S. (Europe Jr.) has taken over for Europe as the controlling First World bastards who rule the Middle East? 

Our hatred of them, otoh, is much less well informed, and more the product of recent propaganda, like this Fitna video.

The American right, by and large, is NOT evil. Just heavily manipulated by evil bastards who see propaganda films like this and quickly move to manufacture an astroturfed distribution network that appears to be like-minded people coming together when the person who emailed this to my reader is most likely only separated from Karl Rove by two or three degrees.

The Middle East is mostly unschooled and largely as dumb as a box of rocks. If the United States had not come to them, most of these fundamentalist idiots wouldn’t be able to find the USA on a map of the world if you gave them three guesses and pointed them in the right direction. If your average American school child doesn’t know who the president is, why do we expect madras grads to be any brighter?

There are many threats to us in the Middle East. Some because we are the new colonialists, some because we sent our troops there, and some because we unconditionally support Israel well past the point of decency or common sense.

But in using tactics like this, the quarterly return mentality of the business right reveals itself, and in a way that seriously harms their religious allies. 

When you blame everything on another religion, and you instruct your faithful in that religion, you will invariably confuse those evangelicals who’ve actually read the Bible and will most certainly notice the similarity in the Bible’s and Koran’s rhetoric of violence. 

Just as the war on drugs backfired when young people actually got around to smoking pot and realized it was harmless, so too will young evangelicals revolt when they realize how they’ve been herded by facile liars who have been exploiting the tension between the Big Three (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). 

But there is a bigger bottom line to this story. Never trust anyone who tries to recruit you to their cause by scaring you. Sometimes they tell the truth, but even then they lie about the real nature of the danger. If not for the liars, wars would cease to exist within moments of the last king or authoritarian ruler being deposed. Wars between well-informed democracies simply do not happen. For war to occur, at least one side has to lie to their people, like Bush did to us, and like bin Laden did to his crackpot buddies.

In any event only a real puddin’head would ever take the word of a Dutchman on these matters, the Dutch having created several of the vilest and cruelest colonies back in the day — South Africa, Indonesia, Angola, Lesser Antilles, Batavia, Java, countries that to this day have never really recovered from the barbarity of Dutch rule. In fact, when the Japanese seized many Dutch possessions in the Pacific, they were initially viewed as liberators.

This video and movement is just more proof that there are those who seek unceasingly to create conflict. The originator of this spam could as easily be a munitions company working through intermediaries, or a crackpot Christian billionaire trying to buy his/her way into heaven.

When you see crap like this, try to remember to always flip the content around to see if it applies equally well to the sender. If you believe, as I do, that bombs are bombs whether strapped to an idiot or dropped by one, then you should have no trouble parsing out the truth of the matter. In this case, the truth is that war is cruel and that war sucks. They have as much (in fact way more) video of dead bodies than we do, and that speaks to the real bottom line: how much death do you think we need?

Don’t think you can email these people back and turn their heads around. You can’t. You can only guide them to sources that won’t offend them, but which will subtly bring them back into the light.
