Holy buckets, I’ve got 60 links loaded up in Firefox right now just waiting to be sorted. Yep, we’re back in “save the bad news for late on Friday” mode.
Bad News for Bush
Federal employee sues DOJ for racist promotion practices (speaking from experience in these matters, this sounds like a very valid and serious claim)
“Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter”
Andrew Bacevich on Jane Mayer’s new book, The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals [TPM Muckraker has excerpts]
Some activists refusing to let the 2004 theft of Ohio go unpunished
Postville raid still reverberating, reflects “a complete lack of due process”
Digby reposts the video of Bush insulting an Irish reporter
House chair says Rove belongs in jail
Video of Turley and Maddow talking about war crimes prosecutions
Bad News for the Economy
ThinkProgress tells Phil Gramm to stick a sock in it
Even the money pundits are thinking that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac need to be nationalized (OK, but only if we get to stiff the non-pension fund investors who cheerfully went along for the ride — in fact, why not a law mandating that pension fund investors always get paid first in bankruptcies?)
Bad News for Democrats
Chancellor Merkel, having had her shoulders “rubbed” by Bush, is terrified of being pawed by a black American president
As I pointed out last fall, Franken’s fundraising strategies make for nice numbers, but leave an unimpressive bank balance [more from David Brauer, 3rd item]
Eric Black on how Ventura fucks up Franken’s chances
I never thought of Mick as being that far to my left, but for some the Democrats have lost too much credibility during their shameful transformation into Bush’s butt boys
Charles Rangel, a former good guy who’s fucked up on a lot of major issues in recent years, screws up on one of NYC’s biggest hot button issues: rent-stabilized housing
More reprisals in the Republic of Alabamastan
Bad News for McCain
I’m not the only one calling Charlie Crist’s fiancée a “beard”
BarbinMD reminds McCain that yes, he was fucking Cindy while still married to Carol
Hagel to be Barack’s Lieberman?
This could have been listed under bad news for media, but either way the sad-assed 69ing between McCain and media continues
Digby on Phil fucking Gramm [ThinkProgress has more of Gramm's cracker quotes]
More on D-I-V-O-R-C-E
Bad News for All of Us
63% of Iowans overweight or obese (I can only guess at how bad the cheeseheads fare in similar surveys)
Mother speaks out about Kellogg Brown & Root’s criminal negligence (their heinous negligence should put a KBR senior executive on death row: murder is murder is murder)
Former Cheney advisor, neocon, and Cunt of the Day David Wurmser puts odds of Israeli attack on Iran at better than 50-50
Georgia locked into fucking over minority voters this fall
TSA, obsessed with the smell of their own shit, fucks with pilots because the rules demand it (after DHS is dismantled, don’t ever hire anyone who held a rank of supervisor or above — they’re all fucking partisan morons)
Bill Donohue goes after PZ [more from PZ himself, and some background from Barbara Mahablog O'Brien]
Bad News for Jews
ChabadTube tracks me down
(see last indented item in this post)
Bad News for Media
Bill Moyers calls Fourth Estate a Fifth Column
Even Deborah “see no evil” Howell found the WaPost’s coverage of Obama’s home loan to be over the top and contentious
Kos’s Miss Laura cites the particulars in the latest indictment of the NYTimes for egregious propagandizing
Wolcott sticks Zev Chafets in a barrel and has at him
PBS ombud sees the Goebbels in Fox News photoshopping phun
Newspaper readerships not declining, but advertisers are jumping ship [the monopolistic ad rates charged by most newspapers have, I'm sure, had nothing to do with this, most corporations being thrilled to pay obscenely high rates that put daily newspaper ads entirely out of the reach of small businesses]
Bad News for Norman Bertram Coleman
New ad heavily pucked up (I’m still steamed that Mayor Jackass-Turncoat tore down a perfectly good arena to assuage the billion dollar egos at the NHL)
No photos of Coleman’s DC pad, but a reporter “describes” it for us in enough detail to suggest a massively choreographed tour that couldn’t hide the fact that Norman’s bed is big enough for him and a regulation cheerleading squad, a couple of strippers and various friends’ wives
True to form, what little good news there is comes in negative packages:
Fox News whores defend Phil Gramm, further humiliating America’s worst news network and reinforcing it’s rep as the place where facts and common sense go to die
Pollsters hiding Barr’s numbers (he’s looking like another Perot)
Kucinich (why does the only Democrat who makes sense look like a walking sight gag? This smacks of more of God’s nastier than you know sense of humor)
Best headline I’ve read in days: Reid on [Joe fucking] Lieberman’s future: ‘Let’s talk about this year’
And other stuff:
New Tild
As well as this comment misplaced in the About section:
Your take of the Lubavitch meat processing company in Iowa is totally correct. The NYTimes gives the Lubavitch chabad here in NYC free full page ads in their paper to advertise their chabad events. They also slant articles not to inflict guiltiness of this cult’s part.Someone in power at the NYTimes must be one of this cult.
The Lubavitch is very strong with the Bush administration. I think it started with Ari Fleischer another member of chabad.
Getting back to Iowa instead of only jailing the workers and going after the supervisors lets go after the owners of the company. I also bet they have been messing with the IRS for years. These people never pay their share of taxes they always find the angle.
All interested in this scandal should read the book… Postville,(http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?inkey=1-9780156013369-6)and see how horrible these people are from the very beginning they arrived in Postville, Iowa.
Finally, if Obama wants to give more power and money to faith based groups as he said recently he has lost my vote. Because govt money goes to these Lubavitch who know how to work the system and not the religious groups that do good. The Lubavitchers are just a group that figured a way how to make money in the “Jew Business”.

And in other follow ups, I’ve made three posts on the passing of mentors/friends since I started blogging. Now that Rosana Hart, “Cordwainer Smith’s” daughter has left a comment, I’m three for three on daughters following up on mentions of their late fathers.
The Mike Frisbie comments, btw, are turning into a memorial page even though few of the commenters have any idea who I am. I think that says a lot about the need of people to express their grief in public ways. Modern Americans can’t just fly cross country for every funeral anymore, not with the cost of oil at $147 a barrel.
The internet serves we the living in many ways, including our times of grief and loss.

I’m not sure there actually *is* anyone at DHS below a supervisor level. They hire a lot of consultants.
This in contrast to DOJ, which is totally rotten at the top, but actually has some good folks left over down in the ranks, trying to get things done despite the partisan crap suffocating them.
